Chicken Little

I’ll share with you the inside scoop from the cast and writers whom I interviewed after the screening, as I feel Chicken Little is really for younger kids. Zach Braff, Garry Marshall, Steve Zahn, Joan Cusack and Amy Sedaris are the main character voices in the picture. This movie took Disney five years to make. 2.5 years into it, they decided to do it in CGI 3-D format, re-wrote the main character to be a boy chicken instead of a girl and basically started over from scratch.

Zach Braff talked the directors into letting him sing, “We are the Champions” onscreen, which was a big deal for Zach until he was told to redo the song – off key. His voice was too good and didn’t fit the 12-year old chicken. He balked but you know who won out on that one. Garry Marshall is one of Hollywood’s very best men. He won’t do anything but ‘positive, upbeat’ movies. He said “Hollywood has so many people ready to give you the dark side, I’m here to show you the good side.” As creator of Happy Days, Director of Pretty Woman, Beaches, Runaway Bride and more, he is a legend and is so very interesting to talk with. He told a funny story of how he ‘researched’ ladies of the evening for Pretty Woman. He took his wife along so he wouldn’t get into trouble. My favorite part of Chicken Little was the last scene where Chicken Little turns out to be a cool grown-up guy who has it all- including the love and respect of his Dad.
