The Philips SBC HS900 headphones have a very traditional design: ear-cups and a plastic arc that rests on top of your head to keep them level. The sound quality of the approximately $30 dollar headphones is nothing earth shattering, but quite decent. We liked these headphones at first, but after some daily use we found that they greatly disappointed.
The first impression was that these headphones were pretty good. They were well priced, comfortable and the sound quality was worth the money. However, after a few short months of limited use, we noticed that the left-ear swivel on the earpiece broke off. Shortly thereafter, the main piece broke off too, rendering the headphones completely useless. It's a shame, because if Philips had spent a little bit more time on the actual part that keeps the headphones together, this would have been a stellar product. The gold-plated connectors ensure that the signal from your media device isn't lost, and with a maximum sound-output of 102dB, these headphones will make your music come alive....if the pieces stay on long enough for you to finish the song.

It can be argued that they were cheap, so why all the fuss? We were on a quest to prove the saying "You get what you pay for" wrong. We wanted to find a set of headphones that were cheap and good in quality all the way around, and hoped that the HS900s would have ended our search. It seems that our quest must venture on.
As a final verdict, the HS900s are good headphones, if cautiously used, but normal wear and tear will take its toll on them quickly.
