Cardo S-640
Review By: Kaustav Acharya

The S-640 boasts an impressive 150 hours of standby time and approximately 6 hours of talk time on a single 3 hour charge. The Li-Po battery holds the charge well and offers all the standard call handling capabilities such as dial, call rejection, redial, and mute.

While the statistics look great, the Cardo does have a drawback. The whole purpose of Bluetooth is to be cable free. The S-640's main unit is cable free, but the earpiece is connected to the main unit by way of a thin cable. It's subtle enough and out of the way, but we feel that any Bluetooth device should be truly cable free.

Operationally, the S-640 is no better or worse than the leading brands. The sound quality of the unit is quite excellent, but as with most other Bluetooth headsets, the person on the other end could barely understand what we were trying to say.   It wasn't the volume as with most headsets, this was in fact just the clarity of speech.

The S-640 does have positive features about it, and a price of $59.99 the device is slightly cheaper than the leading brands out there. The S-640 is not a 'must-have' but in the 'definite worth considering' category.

3/5 U's.
