Battery Xtender
Review by: Stephanie Golubski

The Battery Xtender Alkaline Battery Recharger , offers a way to revitalize used batteries - rechargeable and non-rechargeable.   This small gadget fits four batteries of all sizes, from AAA to D, and also recharges Nickel Metal Hydroxide (NiMH), Nickel Cadmium (NiCad) batteries.   The directions say for maximum efficiency put batteries into the Xtender before they are completely dead.

Insertion of batteries is simple and easy.   Three LED indicators show the status of your battery, yellow for charging, green for ready, and red for a bad result due to a defective battery or incorrect polarity of insertion.

There is no danger of overcharging and batteries can be left in the charger indefinitely, as currents are turned off when charging is complete. The Battery Xtender uses patented techniques to monitor and control the charging process. Fifteen years of testing and improvement has been done to make sure batteries won't explode or leak while recharging.   There is no temperature rise in the batteries being recharged, and process controls ensure that there is no buildup of gas or pressure, and that automatic adjustment of charging currents is maintained.

We found this to be a great product.    One thing to point out is our digital cameras quickly sucked the power out of all batteries, not just the ones whose lives we "Xtended."   We suggest using rechargeable batteries for digital cameras and reducing your dependency on single-use alkaline batteries.

The Battery Xtender retails for $39.99 and can be found in stores or at http://www.theweb2u.com.
