Altec Lansing is known
for being a computer speaker heavyweight. Their speakers
are always high quality, well designed and reasonably
priced. The Orbit - MP3 Portable Audio System stays
true to those standards. We were introduced to the Altec
Lansing Orbit at CES a few weeks ago and were so very
impressed by the sound quality of this small, palm-sized
disc. Even in the super noisy convention hall, the audio
was loud and clear and the music we chose by just plugging
it into an iPhone could be heard several booths down.

We

quality of this small, palm-sized disc. Even in the
super noisy convention hall, the audio was loud and
clear and the music we chose by just plugging it into
an iPhone could be heard several booths down. (Check
out our CES photo gallery by clicking here.) Don’t
let the small size fool you - the Orbit was engineered
with Fusion360 technology, which produces a surround-sound
listening experience. The fact that the Orbit retails
for less than $30 is amazing.
If you need speakers for a laptop,
cellphone, MP3 player, or iPhone, the Orbit is small
enough to toss in your backpack or purse, shock-resistant
and plays for up to 24 hours with 3 AAA batteries. It’s
also a nice alternative to headphones. We tested the
Orbit on stationary devices with excellent results.
At a company meeting we plugged it into a Mac Mini attached
to a 42” monitor to watch a movie clip. The Orbit
delivered deep bass with a rich tone even at maximum
volume. The speaker did not crackle or pop and sat nicely
right next to little Mac Mini, taking up barely any
space. The Altec Lansing Orbit is a definite must have.
Compact size + BIG sound + Altec Lansing
quality + under $30 = WORTHY!
