When the PS3 was first introduced, die-hard fans
were let down by the fact that the new SIXAXIS Bluetooth
wireless controllers lacked the rumble feature.
Sony argued that adding the rumble feature would
interfere with the gyroscopes built into it. So
the fans had no choice but to wait and hope that
Sony would go back to R&D and develop a new
Dualshock® worthy of being paired with the new-gen
console.
Upon initial inspection, the Dualshock® 3 controller
looks almost identical to the original SIXAXIS controller.
It’s when you pick up the controllers that
you feel a weight difference. Although it’s
heavier than the original, it still is lighter than
an Xbox 360 controller. Pair the device with a game
that will utilize it correctly, (we’re personally
waiting for Metal Gear Solid 4), along
with a comfortable gaming environment, and you’ve
got yourself a must have accessory to your PS3.
If you haven't bought a PS3 yet, have no fear as
the original PS3 SIXAXIS controllers are henceforth
discontinued. What does this mean? It means that
if you do decide to pick up the new console, you'll
get the latest Dualshock® 3 Controller along
with your shiny new system.
