Ok, so there’s a tiara in the movie.  If you turned down Harvard to join the ice-skating championship circuit, you’d wear one, too. This is a story of a shy girl that follows her heart to reach her dreams by using intelligence, ingenuity and raw talent.  Her feminist mom, tough coach and new friends watch the bookworm turn into a swan.

Hotel Rwanda is a true tale of courage and compassion among the horrific 1994 Rwandan civil war. Paul Rusesabagina (Cheadle), a five star hotel manager finds his hotel and his family at peril as the country falls into chaos and the international community elects to bow out. As the World looks the other way, a massacre of minority Tutsis and the perpetration of genocide of men, women and children bleeds the nation. Paul finds the courage to open his hotel to over 1,200 refugees at the risk of death by machete. As chaotic and radical militias crawl at the gates of the hotel, only Paul’s intelligence and bravery will keep himself, his family, and the refugees alive. This was an incredible film that has the power to change the world. Cheadle, who was nominated for the Golden Globe Best Actor and Oscar Lead Actor was simply brilliant. This is a must see for any college student; as the next educated generation, we must ensure that this does not happen again.

In days where musicians seem to put themselves on pedestals, focused only on money , its always nice to see a band who knows what it is all about. 311 is made up of five members, Nick Hexum (vocals/guitar), SA Martinez (vocals/scratches), Tim Mahoney (guitar), P-Nut (bass), and Chad Sexton (drums). Since day one 311 has been all about the positive; promoting unity and always providing a good vibe at all their shows. There is nothing quite like a 311 concert. Their style is a unique fusion of rock and hip hop. 311 brings a high level of energy to each show numerous times through the show you can find the audience hoping up and down to the beat while on the next song they slow it down a bit and provide a mellow, chill out vibe. Fourteen years later 311 has now produced 8 albums and continues to evolve and mature as a band. They understand that they are fortunate to be where they are today and show their appreciation to their fans by continuing to put out good music and put on a live show unlike anyone else.

Disney Starring Vin Diesel, Lauren Graham, Faith Ford, Brittany Snow, Max Thieriot, Chris Potter, Carol Kane & Brad Garrett A Navy S.E.A.L. is assigned to care for five children of an assassinated government scientist while mom goes off to Geneva to open her slain husband’s safety deposit box. Each of the kids get code named and are forced to deal with their new nanny-man.   Brad Garrett and the high-tech ending of the movie were high points. The movie was funny and both Vin and the kids did a great job, despite the fact the plot was light. “I stepped aside and let the kids shine,” said Vin who stepped out of his typical action thrillers into this family comedy. In meeting, Vin, he’s basically a big teenager, however, also a serious actor since 7 years old

Universal Studios Jamie Foxx, Kerry Washington and Clifton Powell. Foxx stars as Ray Charles and wins the Best Actor Oscar for his ingenious portrayal of the music legend. From a humble start in the South, this blind boy never let any blinders inhibit his music, his drive, and his climb to the top of the American music charts. The story itself is an incredible account of Ray’s amazing life of triumphs and tragedies. Foxx’s performance was uncanny as Ray. You really believe it’s him as you are drawn in and mesmerized by this amazing life story. The DVD also comes with over 25 minutes of additional footage that wasn’t shown in theatres a jam session between Foxx and the legendary Ray himself. See, hear, feel it!
