The Manu Biosphere is a protected area which still retains healthy populations of jaguar, tapir, anteater, black caiman, giant otter and 13 species of monkey. Its low human population and their continued use of traditional hunting techniques, means that generally animals are still unafraid of man.
 
Wildlife aside, however, the journey into the park itself is amazing. Access to the park is by a single track dirt road, which carries you from Cusco, over the Andes mountains to an elevation of 4000 meters, past pre-inca ruins and then down through virgin cloud forest into the Amazon basin itself. The scenery is spectacular!
Spanish group courses at two levels are offered in combination with excursions in the jungle with an experienced guide. The conversation classes will be adapted to the environment studying the ecology of the amazing tropical rainforest of Manu. don Quijote teachers from Cuzco will accompany the students at the whole trip, therefore guaranteeing don Quijote's high level of Spanish instruction.
  
Accommodation is provided in bungalows (double rooms) with communal toilet at Pantiacolla Lodge, located in the Cultural Zone of the Manu Biosphere abreast of the beautiful and turbulent Madre de Dios river. At night, illumination is with candles and lanterns (no electricy present). Paths lead from the bungalows to showers and flush toilets and to a spacious and comfortable dining area and bar.
Nine hundred hectares of land surround the lodge and gridded trails throughout offer the enthusiastic explorer unparallelled wildlife watching opportunities. A shortearly morning walk to a recently discovered clay lick also enables visitors to observe macaws and parakeets at close hand.
Students and teachers travel to Manu in the specially designed bus and boat of the experienced rainforest agency, Pantiacolla Tours.
Departure is on Saturday morning at 6:00AM and the group gets back the following Saturday in the evening
The first night we will be accommodated in the Posada San Pedro in the cloud forest and the other five nights at Pantiacolla Lodge. The total journey lasts more or less 12 hours (one way). All meals are included as well as all transportation and daily excursions with professional rainforest guide.
