Tech Workshop
A tour of and a hands-on practical "how to" set up, operate and break down film production equipment including an introduction to the Canon XL1 camera, various lighting packages, filters, gripping, rigging and camera operation basics. Students successfully completing this course will be certified to work on school soundstages.

AVID 2
Intermediate mechanics of editing, including transitioning students from work on AVID Xpress DV to AVID Media Composer. AVID 1 and Editing 1 are pre-requisites. Must be taken in conjunction with Editing 2.

Cine Certification
Basic camera set up, operation and breakdown covering Arriflex 16SR2, Arriflex 35BL4, Panavision Super PSR and Sony HDCAM, leading to the certification of the student for use of school camera equipment.

Cinematography 2
Intermediate Cinematography instruction covering film stocks, video formats, film exposure, lighting and contrast, working with light meters and camera department organization.

Directing 2
Focusing on the director's thought process to give "voice" to the director's vision of the film. Staging techniques and scene design.

Drafting 1
Focusing on the role of illustrators, set designer and storyboard artists in the world of filmmaking. Class covers the basics of mechanical drawing and their use on the layout of ground plans for sets.

Drawing
Drawing techniques for scenic designers, as well as directors and directors of photography. A complement to Drafting 1, focusing on pre-visualization to clarify the vision of the project.

Editing 2
Intermediate aesthetic editing techniques covering editing dialogue, scene transitions, time and space perception, tempo, mood changes and how music and sound affect the editor's work. Editing 1 and AVID 1 are pre-requisites. Must be taken in conjunction with AVID 2.

Hands On 2
Working with assigned material, class will form groups to pitch their concept of a small project to the class for production. The concepts chosen will be the subject of the remainder of the course as the projects are plotted from development through the shooting and editing process, the product of which will be presented to the class in screenings at the end of the course.

Line Producing 1
An overview of line producing and production infrastructure, including script break down, scheduling and budgeting using Movie Magic and how to keep the project on or under budget.
