The Phoenix campus opened in 1977, following interests expressed by local American Baptists who welcomed Ottawa University into an area where private, church-related educational institutions were rare.
Arizona campuses emphasize flexible scheduling, frequent course scheduling, frequent course start dates, and the delivery of educational resources at times and places accessible to adult learners.
Arizona offers 17 undergraduate majors, four graduate programs, a post-baccalaureate teacher certification program, a professional education program for teachers, and certificates of advanced graduate studies. Many programs and majors are also available online. During 2002, Ottawa University began offering an online Master of Business Administration program University-wide. Students may complete courses in a classroom setting, online or a combination of both.
